  • Forms & Permits

Like all municipalities, the Town of Woodfin requires a variety of forms and permits to be granted for the construction of buildings, establishment of signs, zoning modifications and the operation of businesses. Additionally, the Town requires permits for blasting, road closures, exterior lighting and a variety of other activities that might negatively impact our citizens and visitors. On this page you will find some of the most commonly requested applications. If you need assistance in completing an application or have questions regarding an application please contact our Administrative Department during normal business hours.

Zoning Compliance Permit Application – this application is required for the establishment of any building or structure within the Town of Woodfin or any modifications to an existing building that significantly modifies its use or the building “footprint.”

Conditional Use Permit Application – All properties located within the Town are subject to one of a variety of zoning districts. These districts grant authority to the property owner to construct certain types of buildings and to conduct certain types of activities, this authority is called a “right of use.” Some uses, however, require special permission from the Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment of the Town of Woodfin. This body is appointed by the Board of Aldermen to provide oversight and review of land use regulations and conditional uses. If you wish to change the zoning of your property or obtain a Conditional Use Permit then you should use this application to begin the process.

Privilege License Application – this application is required to operate any business within the Town of Woodfin whether on a profit or non-profit basis. It is the duty of the business owner to submit this application to the Town of Woodfin prior to the establishment of business. Failure to obtain a valid privilege license can result in significant fines and other penalties.

Sign Permit Application – In order to erect a sign within the Town limits of the Town of Woodfin you must first obtain a valid sign permit. There are a variety of rules that govern sign height and size depending upon the zoning district of the property in question. Additionally, there are limits on the number and types of signs allowed on property within the Town limits. Failure to obtain a valid sign permit can result in fines and the removal of the unpermitted signage.

As noted above, if you have questions about these or other municipal permits please contact our Administrative staff for further assistance.
